Abstract

The objective of the research was oriented to determine the relationships of focus and cointegration between tax collection, gross domestic product and gross investment of the private sector in Ecuador during the period 2000-2021. The study was developed within the quantitative epistemological approach, specifically the positivist paradigm. The descriptive-correlational research was supported by a documentary, longitudinal, retrospective or historical design. Documents with economic information from specialized entities authorized by the Central Bank, in the period 2000-2021, were used as data sources. For the development of the VAR and VECM econometric models, we worked with seasonally adjusted nominal quarterly data from the Internal Revenue Services in the case of the total collection variable, Central Bank of Ecuador for the variables gross domestic product and gross investment of the private sector. In addition to this, a series of tests were developed to validate the different econometric models. It was determined that there is a long-term relationship between tax collection, gross domestic product and gross investment of the private sector in Ecuador, during the period between 2000 and 2021. On the other hand, a total of 30 cointegration vectors were determined., evidencing that there is a long-term and equilibrium relationship between tax collection, gross domestic product and gross investment of the private sector in Ecuador in the study period.
