Abstract

The purpose of this work is to apply Monte Carlo simulation to obtain expected results in a single-channel queueing system. The analysis aims to characterize problems whose probability distributions for the number of arrivals and services differ from the Poisson distribution; specifically, empirical distributions are used. The goal is to calculate the expected decision parameters through a manual simulation procedure, based on the understanding that analytical formulas do not apply in these cases.

Author Biography

  • Rafael Terrazas Pastor, Universidad Católica Boliviana

    Doctor in Business Administration, with a Master’s degree in Applied Sciences and a degree in Industrial Engineering. He holds a Diploma in Higher Education and has training in computer programming languages. With over 25 years of teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels, he has supervised and advised more than 200 theses and graduation projects. Throughout his career, he has held various managerial positions in organizations and is the author of several books in the fields of optimization, research, and project management.
