Abstract

When we talk about projects, we must differentiate between project preparation, evaluation, and management. Depending on the context, the techniques and tools may differ, although they are complementary. This paper aims to take an integral and holistic approach to the world of projects, focusing on their management and development. Specifically, it outlines the notion of projects, the concept of project management, the functions of project management, and the structural foundations to approach this discipline, which are explained and illustrated with their essential characteristics. The idea is to encourage public and private organizations to pay more attention to project planning and monitoring, understanding that proper implementation is at the heart of regional development.
