Peer Review Process
All submitted manuscripts will undergo a pre-selection stage, consisting of an initial review based on the general guidelines established in the current call for papers. This review will be carried out by the editorial team of the journal, with the support of the Editorial Board.
Manuscripts that pass this first evaluation will be forwarded to two external reviewers who are specialists in the topics addressed by each submission. To ensure the confidentiality of the process, each manuscript will be identified only by a code and its title.
The review will follow a double-blind peer review model, which means that the identities of both the author and the reviewers will remain confidential in order to prevent any conflict of interest and ensure an objective assessment of the content. From the moment the manuscript is received, reviewers will have a two-week deadline to issue their decision, using an evaluation form that includes four possible outcomes:
- Approved: the author will be informed of this decision and will only need to address any formal observations, if applicable, while awaiting publication of the article.
- Approved with minor corrections, without the need for re-evaluation: the *Perspectivas* editorial team will send the suggestions to the author, who will have one week to implement the changes. The editor will then verify the corrections before incorporating the manuscript into the corresponding issue.
- Approved with substantial modifications and requiring a second review: in this case, the author will be notified and must make the required changes within two weeks. The revised manuscript will be sent again to the reviewer, who will have an additional two weeks to submit a second evaluation.
- Rejected: if the decision is negative, the author will receive a brief justification supporting the decision. The author may revise the manuscript according to the suggestions and submit it again for consideration in a future issue.
In case of discrepancies between reviewers' evaluations, the manuscript may be sent to a third referee or, if the committee deems it appropriate, the final decision will rest with the editor.
It is important to note that if a member of the editorial team (editor, editorial board, or scientific committee) wishes to submit an article to the journal, they must explicitly refrain from participating in any stage of the evaluation process. In such cases, the review will be entrusted to external reviewers appointed by the journal.
