Is a collection of electronic scientific journals with free and open access, available online. This collaborative project began in July 2008 with the participation of several Bolivian institutions, including the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, the Strategic Research Program in Bolivia, the Universidad Católica Boliviana, the Bolivian Association of Biomedical Journal Editors, and the Vice Ministry of Science and Technology, with support from the Pan American Health Organization’s Bolivia Representation.
The Executive Coordination of the site is managed by the Vice Ministry of Science and Technology through the Bolivian System of Scientific and Technological Information Program (SIBICYT), and the Technical Coordination is overseen by the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. The SciELO Project is an initiative by FAPESP – São Paulo State Research Support Foundation, and BIREME (Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information), which aims to develop a common methodology for preparing, storing, disseminating, and evaluating scientific literature in electronic format. Through the portal http://www.SciELO.org, which integrates and provides access to the SciELO network sites, users can search existing SciELO collections or by country.
The goal of the site is to implement an electronic scientific library, providing full access to a collection of Bolivian journals, individual journal issues, and the full text of articles. Access to the journals and articles is provided through indexes and search forms. The site is constantly updated both in form and content as the project advances.
The SciELO interface offers access to its journal collection through an alphabetical list of titles, a subject index, or a word search by journal, publisher name, city of publication, and subject. It also provides access to full-text articles through an author index, subject index, or search form by article elements like author names, title words, subjects, and full-text words.

Is an open-access bibliographic portal that has become one of the largest databases of scientific literature in Spanish. It was created in 2001 by the University of La Rioja in Spain, and since 2009, it has been managed by the Dialnet Foundation, a non-profit organization. Its primary goal is to disseminate Ibero-American scientific production, providing access to a vast number of academic documents, such as journal articles, books, doctoral theses, chapters of collective works, and conference proceedings. Dialnet has become a key tool for researchers, teachers, and students by offering a powerful search system and a catalog that primarily covers the fields of Humanities, Law, and Social Sciences, although it also includes documents from other disciplines.
One of Dialnet's distinctive features is its institutional collaboration model, which involves numerous university and specialized libraries from Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. These institutions contribute to the database by uploading content and journal summaries, which helps keep the platform updated and enriched. Additionally, Dialnet offers personalized services, such as bibliographic alerts, which notify users about new publications related to their academic interests. The portal also provides access to many full-text documents, making it a reliable and valuable source for research in the Spanish-speaking world.
LATINDEX
Is the result of cooperation among a network of institutions working together to gather and disseminate bibliographic information on serial scientific publications produced in the region. Latindex is an information system for scientific, technical-professional, and cultural dissemination journals published in Latin American countries, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal. This information is available to all types of users, especially those who use, exchange, and generate scientific information published in the region, such as researchers, teachers, students, editors, librarians, and information specialists. Latindex also serves the international community (organizations and/or individuals) interested in content, topics, and actions related to science and scientific information in the region.
REDALYC
Is a Network of Scientific Journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal. This system was developed by the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, in collaboration with hundreds of higher education institutions, research centers, professional associations, and Ibero-American publishers. It is a non-profit academic project under the philosophy of open access to scientific literature, which means, according to the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI-2001), that users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link the full texts of scientific articles and use them for any legitimate purpose, without other financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inherent to the Internet itself. The journals part of the REDALYC Project stand out from the extensive scientific editorial production of Ibero-America.
DIRECTORY OF OPEN ACCESS JOURNALS (DOAJ)
Is a list of free access scientific and academic journals that meet high-quality standards by using peer review or editorial quality control and are free for all upon publication, based on the definition of open access adopted by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). The aim of the DOAJ is to increase the visibility and facilitate the use of open-access scientific and academic journals, thereby promoting their greater use and impact. Since open access is a global phenomenon, DOAJ includes publications from around the world in many languages. It is possible to browse journals or search for articles within many journals through an interface. DOAJ is managed and partially funded by the libraries of the University of Lund. It has received or continues to receive funding from the Open Society Institute, the National Library of Sweden, SPARC, SPARC Europe, and Axiell. DOAJ also participates in the global scientific portal WorldWideScience.
