Instructions for authors
- PRESENTATION
This guide is addressed to all researchers and academics who wish to contribute with analytical documents in the field of business sciences to the Revista Perspectivas of the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo”, Cochabamba Campus. The purpose is to standardize the presentation of research papers in line with the guidelines established by scientific communities in this area, considering the aspects detailed below.
- STRUCTURE OF THE DOCUMENT
In general terms, the document must include the following structure:
- General information on the first page.
- Main Text.
- Bibliographic References.
- Appendices, annexes, glossaries, and/or lists of acronyms, if applicable.
All general information must be placed on the first page, which includes:
Author Information:
- Full name(s) of the author(s)
- Institutional affiliation(s) of each author
- Nationality of each author
- Email address of each author
- ORCID of each author
- Brief biography of each author
Article Information:
- Title of the manuscript (in Spanish and English)
- Abstract (in Spanish and English)
- Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) Classification (in Spanish and English)
- Keywords (in Spanish and English)
The abstract in Spanish and/or English must not exceed 150 words and must be presented under the subtitle Abstract or Resumen. One line below the abstract, the corresponding codes of the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL Classification) must be included. These can be found at http://www.aeaweb.org , and no more than five codes should be listed. Likewise, the Keywords must be indicated below the JEL Classification, with a maximum of five keywords or key phrases, in the language of the manuscript. Finally, the contact information of the author(s) must appear as a footnote on the first page, marked with an asterisk (\*) next to the author’s last name. This note must specify, if applicable: the author’s full name and highest academic degree, institutional affiliation, current position, and email address.
- MAIN TEXT
The structure and content of the main text will vary depending on the type of document submitted. However, its formal presentation must adhere to the American Psychological Association (APA) format. The journal accepts unpublished research papers, essays, monographs, and/or rigorous literature reviews that summarize relevant theoretical aspects related to business sciences and research methodology.
- CITATIONS AND REFERENCES
The reference list must be ordered strictly in alphabetical order, following APA style guidelines, and only the sources cited in the text should be included. Citations within the text must also adhere strictly to APA standards. For this purpose, authors are encouraged to consult the APA Style Manual or summarized guidelines available online through various sources and formats. Reference management software such as RefWorks, Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley, among others, may also be used.
- SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Documents must be submitted in Microsoft Word format and can be written in either Spanish or English. If approved, the manuscript will be published in the language in which it was originally submitted.
- FORMAT REQUIREMENTS
Documents must be written in a single-column format. Graphs, figures, and tables should not be arranged in two columns. The manuscript should use letter-sized paper with 2.5 cm margins on the right, left, top, and bottom. Line spacing must be 1.5, with a blank line separating paragraphs. The maximum length of the manuscript is 30 pages, including the title page, figures, tables, and references. All pages must be numbered consecutively, including the title page, with the page number placed in the bottom right corner. The text must be written in Times New Roman font, 12-point size.
- TYPOGRAPHIC SPECIFICATIONS
The following typography must be used:
- For the main title (first line), Times New Roman, 14-point, bold.
- All main text must be in Times New Roman, 12-point.
- Author name(s): Times New Roman, 12-point, bold. Institutional affiliation, academic degree, and other details: Times New Roman, 12-point.
- Subtitles such as Abstract or Resumen: Times New Roman, 12-point, bold.
- JEL Classification: Times New Roman, 12-point, italic. The same applies to Keywords at the end of the abstract.
- Section titles, as well as titles of tables, figures, and charts: Times New Roman, 12-point, bold. Subheadings at the second and third levels should use Times New Roman, 12-point, italic.
- All words or phrases written in a language different from that of the main text should be italicized.
- REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION OF WORKING PAPERS
When submitting manuscripts, the following formal requirements must be met:
- The text must be original and unpublished. Its content may be theoretical or empirical. It must not have been previously published or currently under review by another journal. Incomplete drafts will not be accepted.
- The file must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
- The manuscript must comply with the formatting requirements specified in the “Instructions for Authors.” All tables and figures must be placed within the main body of the document, not at the end.
- The content must conform to the journal's style and bibliographic referencing guidelines.

The email message must indicate the purpose of the submission, the title of the document, the full name(s) of the author(s), phone number(s), home or work address, city (or locality) – country, email address(es), and ORCID. If the author(s) change any of the aforementioned information after submitting the working documents, it is their responsibility to contact UCB Cochabamba via email and update this information to avoid communication issues.
The document must be sent as a single attached Word file, ensuring that any tables and/or figures are in Excel format and included within the same text, following the characteristics and details specified in the previous points. Likewise, documents submitted electronically must not be encrypted or password-protected in a way that prevents access.
The Editorial Board will select the articles to be published in the *evista Perspectivas in accordance with its internal regulations and the current call for papers.
The Department of Administration, Economics, and Finance issues a call for article submissions every six months; however, submissions are accepted continuously due to the dynamic nature of the article review and evaluation process.
All professionals in the field of business sciences and related disciplines, whether local, national, or international, are welcome to submit their work.
- ASPECTS TO CONSIDER
Perspectivas is an academic and scientific journal of faculty and students from the Department of Administration, Economics, and Finance and Social Communication at the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo”. It covers topics in business sciences in particular and social sciences in general. The journal seeks to contribute in a pluralistic manner to the dissemination of scientific knowledge generated locally, nationally, and internationally. In this regard, it is a contribution to scientific research, accepting its challenges.
The Revista Perspectivas considers the following aspects for authors, in terms of content licenses and copyright:
- No article processing charges apply.
- No submission fees apply.
- The review of received manuscripts is carried out by the Editorial Committee and through a double-blind peer review system.
- The average number of weeks between receipt and publication is eight.
- The journal is open-access for all readers.
- The journal allows reuse and combination with other content under a Creative Commons license, provided the original source is properly cited (CC by).
- Authors retain their copyright without restrictions.
- Authors also retain full rights to publish their work without restrictions.
- CONFLICT OF INTEREST
The author(s) must declare that they have no conflict of interest with the institutions mentioned in the article, with Revista Perspectivas, with any member of its Editorial Board, or with its publishing entity, the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” which may publish the article in either print or digital format.
- FORMAT AND PREPARATION OF DOCUMENTS
All individuals interested in submitting papers are invited to present original research results, case studies, argumentative essays, reflection articles, or thematic review articles. These should address topics related to business sciences in general and economic and business sciences in particular.
Given the academic nature of the contributions, it is strongly recommended to rigorously apply citation and style guidelines according to the APA format. Additionally, it is essential to avoid all forms of plagiarism, including reproducing texts without proper citation, presenting others’ ideas as one’s own, altering or falsifying information, or incorrectly using sources. Respect for academic integrity is a fundamental requirement for the acceptance of submissions.

Perspectivas is a journal created with the goal of being exchanged with other scientific publications. Currently, it is exchanged with over a dozen international publications. The print version is distributed free of charge to all university libraries in Bolivia that offer programs related to Business Sciences.

Individuals wishing to acquire a copy of the journal may purchase it directly at the facilities of the Universidad Católica Boliviana “San Pablo” Cochabamba Campus. At the moment, there is no individual subscription system available.
